Discovering the New Amber: Redefining Grace, Finding Peace, and Trusting God’s Timeline

Worry About Nothing, Pray About Everything

I have been on quite the journey. Regardless of how or why I got there, I’m here. Here I am writing again. Thinking again. Helping again. Staying busy, active, happy.

I have to give myself some grace because I’m still postpartum. I learned that means my body is still not my body before pregnancy. My hormones, emotions, feelings, everything, are not back to pre-pregnancy Amber. And that’s okay.

Life can’t be 100mph, only the car that caused me to go through the postpartum journey I had was. All jokes aside, returning back to my normal, leveled, hormonal self will take time. The doctor’s most famous answer when I was at Shirley Ryan in Chicago was “it will take time”.

Funny enough, I have spent the last six months working on myself, but I didn’t realize God had to do some work. He needed me to have time. Haha.

I have spent the last year in a million moods. I have spent the last year as a first time mother, author, all these different identities. I had discover myself and also re-discover myself because my hormones and brain are trying to return. I have faults. I am human.

I have also spent the last few months correcting and discovering those faults. I want to be the best person I can be for God, my husband, my daughter, and myself. To do that, I still have to learn to stop worrying. As Paul has said in Philippians 4:6-7, “Worry about nothing, pray about everything.”

I can sit here and worry about my life, my purpose, my family, everything. OR I can sit here, have a “to-do” list, work on it, and give it to God through prayer.

I ask myself, “am I trying to return back to “Amber”?”

No! I am working on discovering the “new Amber”. She is religious, spiritual, motherly, and always trying to improve. She was hit at 109 mph and has a brain injury. I am still postpartum, yes. But I have learned very important lessons these past few months that all end with “Worry about nothing. Pray about everything.”

I am new and improved Amber. Brain injured, postpartum, motherly Amber.
